Heading to the DMV, my son was excited and nervous. I stayed in the background for most of the pictures, snapping away not to embarrass him.

He did not require his participation to get his photo next to the driver’s License Office sign. He was very pleased when he was able to pass his Drivers Test on the first try!

Drivers License Scrapbook Layout Supplies:

White and Colored Cardstock
Cricut Machine or stickers
State Cricut Cartridge
Cutter Bee Precision Cut Scissors
Adhesive Applicator
Photographs of the Big Event
12-inch Scrapbooking Paper Trimmer
Corner Rounder Punch
Xyron Create-A-Sticker Machine

How To Make Drivers License Scrapbook Layout:

Step 1: Looking at their new Drivers License, lay out two pieces of cardstock for your background.

Step 2: Using your paper Trimmer, cut the border for the top and bottom of the page. For this License Page, the top border is 2-inches wide, and the bottom border is 1-inch wide.

Step 3: Using your Diecut Machine, cut out the letters needed to make the Header for your Page. These letters, all except the first letter of each word, are 1-1/2 inches tall, cut out of the Cricut Alphalicious Font. The first letter of each word is 2-inches tall, cut from the same font.

Step 4: Using your Xyron Create-a-Sticker Machine, attach your header letters to your top Border.

Step 5: Using your Adhesive Applicator, attach your top border, with the header letters on it, to the top of your scrapbook pages.

Step 6: Using your Diecut Machine, cut the 1-1/4 inch tall D,M,V letters from red cardstock. Also, cut out the letters to spell License 1-1/2 inches tall. Then Trim the cardstock down to 1-3/4 inches wide around the cut-out D,M,V, letters so that your background will show through as the color for these letters. The D,M,V, as well as the rest of the letters for the license, were cut from the Cricut Keystone Font.

Step 7: Using your adhesive applicator, attach the D,M,V-cutout to your page under your top border.

Step 8: Using your Xyron Create-A-Sticker Machine, attach your letter’s spelling license to the page under your top border.

Step 9: Cut out the image of your state 6-1/2 inches wide using the Cricut 50 States Cartridge, and attach to your scrapbook pages with your adhesive applicator.

Step 10: Cut out the name, address, and word class letters from black cardstock using the Cricut Keystone Font, 1-inch tall, and attach to your scrapbook pages using your Xyron Create-A-Sticker Machine. The letter C for the class C license is 1-1/4 inches tall.

Step 11:  If you need the red Organ Donor heart, cut it from the red cardstock 2 inches high using the George and Basic Shapes Cricut Font. Attach it using your adhesive applicator.

Step 12: Using your paper trimmer or precision scissors, trim your photographs and cut out any mats for the photographs you need. Mats will make your pictures stand out from the background. You can also make rounded corners on photographs with a corner-rounder punch. Using your precision scissors and cutting around the images’ edges makes them stand out.

Step 13: Cut out a box for journaling about the experience. I used my printer to make the journal box, print the journal entry, and then trim it with my paper trimmer. You can do the same or write your journal entry by hand for a personal touch. Then attach your photographs, mats, and journal box to the scrapbook pages.

Step 14: If you want to add this, take a photograph of the actual license (or scan it) and print it out. Trim it down and attach it to the page using your adhesive applicator.

There you have it! You have recorded the memory of your teen getting their first driver’s license in a fun and easy scrapbook layout!
