Chocolate Walnut Blondies… need I say more?
Chocolate Walnut Blondies Recipe:
It’s Sunday afternoon, and it’s time to bake!
I had everything on hand for these, so I thought, why not? The last time I was at Sam’s, I bought a big bag of walnuts. I keep nuts in the freezer to extend their shelf life. Nuts have oil in them, which can turn the nuts bad quicker in the pantry. I love keeping walnuts and pecans on hand at all times.
Nuts are pretty interchangeable in recipes, so use what you have. You can also add peanut butter or Nutella if you want that ooey gooey blondie experience.
Chocolate Chip Walnut Blondies Ingredients:
1 stick butter, softened
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
1 cup chopped walnuts
How To Make Chocolate Walnut Blondies:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Rub an 8-inch square baking pan with butter.
2. Rub an 8-inch square baking pan with butter.
3. With a mixer, beat butter and sugars until smooth. Whisk in egg and vanilla. Add flour and salt; mix until moistened (do not overmix). Fold in 1/2 cup each of chocolate chips and walnuts (I added them all…OOPS). Transfer the batter to the prepared pan; smooth the top. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips and walnuts (all of mine went IN the batter).
4. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan; smooth the top. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips and walnuts (all of mine went IN the batter).
5. Bake until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 40-45 minutes.
6. Set the pan on a wire rack and let cool completely.
7. Cut into squares.
Store blondies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
Enjoy!

Chocolate Chunk Blondies Ideas and Adaptations:
This is an easily adaptable recipe that you can change based on taste and what you may have in your pantry.
Blondies are easily storable recipes that you can make ahead and freeze for a later date. Ours never make it long enough to be stored, but if I make these for a new mom, funeral, or sick family member, it’s good to let them know they don’t have to eat them right away.
These are also delicious when heated in the microwave and topped with vanilla ice cream.
Ideas for variation:
- Make white chocolate walnut blondies by replacing the milk chocolate with white chocolate!
- Make dark chocolate blondies (my personal favorite)
- Add fruits to make chocolate chip banana blondies, chocolate orange blondies, or even chocolate coconut blondies.
- Change up the nuts and have pecan blondies.
- Add candy and have toffee blondies or even caramel blondies.
