As you know, we have been working our butts off to complete this home office makeover, and I am pleased to show you our *almost completed job! We have everything finished except the desk which is amazing and will be shipping from Hayneedle soon. I will include a picture of it in this post and then offer completely before and after pics once we get it set up.
Now for what we have done.
As you can see we painted the walls. We deviated from our original plan and you can take a look at the “working pictures below to see why:
The colors were all wrong. I actually got the idea from the Glidden Website but quickly realized that what they had done, and what I wanted to do were not the same thing. While I do think we could have possibly made this work, it just wasn’t for me.
The cool thing about our little “mistake” was that we got a chance to see just how well the Glidden Brilliance Collection really worked. You see this paint is a 2 in 1 paint because it’s both a paint and a primer. Which means if it does what the name implies, you should only have to paint one coat to cover a previously painted wall (even with a dark color like the one above). So… do you think it covered it?
If you said yes, you are RIGHT! It covered that darker blue with just one coat. This paint was so easy to work with, spread over the walls like a dream, and it cost us $30 to paint this entire room! That is what I call great paint! If you are planning to paint a room, go ahead and grab the $3 off Glidden coupon in the sidebar.
Here are some more pictures of our fun:
John started by filling nail holes and other problem areas with putty. Then he took to the walls with a sander. After that, we wiped down the walls and went to work painting (and re-painting where we changed colors). This final color is similar to our original only it’s bluer and we decided to do the whole room instead of going with two separate colors. I am so happy with the final look. Not only did I solve my organizational problem, I got a new chair and bench, and the room feels larger and fresher because of the new serene paint job.
When I worked in my office today, I could feel the difference. Working in an unorganized mess was stressing me out more than I realized! I actually enjoyed working today.
I do still have a few more things to do. I plan to add the new desk ( you can see a picture below), hang some pictures of the kids, and hang a few pictures from my blogging trip to LA. I am going to dedicate a wall in my office to my blogging trips and friends! I think it will be fun to show off to my friends and family when they come over.
Here is a picture of the white hutch desk I’m getting:
So what do you think? Did we do a good job?
