Sweet Valley Confidential by Francine Pascal

It is amazing how in the first five pages I was instantly brought back in the town of Sweet Valley. For me reading a book becomes part of my life. I feel like I know the characters and often don’t want the book to end. Lucky for me there were 100+ books starring the Wakefield twin sisters. I read all of them and sometimes twice. I was devastated when it seemed as though it was time to move on from young adult books into adult stories. You can imagine my excitement when I learned that there was going to be a new book by Francine Pascal!

A book that would address all those questions and catch you up on the life of Elizabeth and Jessica. I took the book with me on a beach weekend and managed to read the whole book in less than 48 hours. The book takes you on a literary journey through not only the lives of the main characters but also works in even some of the least mentioned characters. The was a small break in the time span from the last SVH book till ten years later, but the story is written in a way that keeps you in line with those between times. I was impressed at how she was able to continue the story in present time but also get you all the details you “missed” in the past ten years. For me, this book was closure to a great teen series.

The one that I would patiently wait until we could go again to the bookstore(as this was before all the electronic devices), and spend my hard earned allowance. I waited just as eagerly for this book and was not disappointed in the least. It a great to be back in Sweet Valley one last time, I can’t wait for my daughter to old enough to enjoy this series….she just won’t have to wait ten years to see how it all plays out.
