Fountain DIY Tranquility

I am going to share a DIY Tranquility Fountain tutorial with you because I believe the secret to success both at work and in life start with happiness at home. I am working full time and have been happily married for over 33 years. If you make your home a sanctuary of relaxation and fun, you will find it much easier to focus on success in your job, and you will be able to enjoy your spouse and the time you have together.

We have transformed some of our spaces at home into relaxing and leisure areas. There was a time when my husband and I were working different shifts. I was working from about 10:00 a.m. until job completion, (sometimes very late at night) from Sunday through Thursday and he was working Monday through Friday on day shift. While I was working this shift, I found it hard to relax and unwind so that I could go to sleep after work. My husband transformed our screen porch into a put my feet up oasis for me. He designed a rod to hold up some outdoor curtains and put up curtains and a string of soft white patio lights around the porch.

When I would get home from work, he would already have the darkened porch lit with the patio lights creating a warm atmosphere. He would greet me with a drink, and we would sit on the porch and relax until I had unwound from the hectic pace I kept at work. He was my hero for redecorating and making sure that we had our little sanctuary in where we could kick back and relax. Since then, he has added surround patio seating and a propane gas fire table, I know, right?

Now that I am working day shift, we have started relaxing every day after work together. I have discovered that TAZO® Chai Latte K-Cup® pods are a delicious way to wind down after work. The creamy blend of black tea, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and vanilla flavor is a perfect blend of sweet and spicy.

Since TAZO® Chai Latte K-Cup® Pods can be made in seconds in your Keurig®; you will find yourself savoring an amazing part sweet/part spicy tea made from milk, tea leaves, and spices so quick that you will be enjoying your recharging time before you know it. The latest addition to our sanctuary is a tranquility fountain. I love to relax with the sound of water more or at least as much as I adore sitting by the fire. To get your sanctuary started, I wanted to share this DIY tranquility fountain tutorial with you.

How to make your DIY Tranquility Fountain:

Step 1: Select your planter for the base. If you want to hear the water splashing when the fountain is on, choose a larger container to contain the splashes. If you only want running water, a smaller container will do.

Step 2: Drill a 1-1/4 – inch hole in the side of your planter for the cord. Place the pump in the planter and run the cord out of the planter through the hole you drilled. Use the stopper on the cord to plug the hole and make it watertight.

Step 3: An old grill grate works to make the platform for the rocks above the water. A hacksaw and some channel lock pliers can be used to get a large enough hole for your fountain kit to feed up through the grate.

Step 4: Add the bricks to hold the grate up and thread the telescopic extension tube through the grate to keep your water nozzle above the rocks. Keep it as low as you can, so that your water won’t spray out of your planter.

Step 5: Wash the rocks off. If you don’t rinse the rocks before putting them in your fountain, your water will get murky from the dirt and dust on the rocks.

Step 6: Add water to submerge your pump completely, leaving a small space between the rock covered grate and the water level so that the water will drip back down through the rocks.

Now you are ready to plug in the fountain and take a break from your hard work. Let your taste buds take you on travel around the world through exotic lands of sweet cinnamon and spicy ginger and leave the stress of a grueling work day behind.
