DIY Among Us Resin Coasters

Sharing is caring!

Today I’m sharing our Among Us Resin Coasters, a new craft we tried out a few weeks ago. I was hesitant to try using resin because I was worried our projects wouldn’t turn out well. Thankfully the girls are always up for a challenge and won’t let my fear of failure hold them back.

We partnered with UpStart Epoxy for this craft, and I’m so glad we did. Their epoxy is perfect for crafting, and the product is low-odor (which is vital for anyone that suffers from migraines, as I do).

We started with basic resin coasters, and then the girls tried making a more artsy version using their favorite game, Among Us, for inspiration.

I think all of the resign coasters turned out great, but the Among Us and fall-themed coasters are my favorite. Check out our tutorial below for step by step instructions and tips.

DIY Among Us Resin Coasters:

Making our own resin coasters was so much easier than I thought it would be. Within days of starting this project, the girls and I had created dozens of unique coasters.

I learned that while a heat gun is not necessary for resin crafts, it is helpful if you want your projects to turn out bubble-free and crystal clear.

We also learned that the 1:1 ratio for epoxy resin is crucial. If you don’t mix enough hardener in your project will not turn out well.

DIY Among Us Resin Coasters Materials:

Upstart Epoxy & Hardener
Mica powder (for color)
Glitter & accents (optional)
Mixing cups & sticks
Heat gun
Coaster molds
Gloves and masks

How To Make DIY Among Us Resin Coasters:

  1. Start by mixing Upstart Epoxy with a 1:1 ratio measuring the amount you plan to use for your project.

  2. Separate resin into mixing cups and add mica powder to color your resin. Start with small amounts of mica powder, mix completely, and add more to get the color you desire. You can also add glitter or other accents into resin before pouring it into your molds.
  3. Spray the molds with a releasing spray if you’d like (we used this but later found it unnecessary).
  4. Carefully pour the resin into molds and fill them to the top. If you add a hand-drawn or printed image, you can pour a little resin, then place your image and cover it with additional resin.
  5. If you have a heat gun, you can use it to remove any bubbles before allowing the coasters to dry.
  6. Allow coasters to dry overnight before removing them from the molds.

Resin Coaster Tips:

You can create anything your heart desires with this tutorial. Think outside the box and let your imagination go wild. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Don’t get impatient. Allow your coasters to dry overnight for the best results!

While the products we recommend are low-odor, I recommend wearing a mask and gloves and doing your projects outside or in a well-ventilated area.

For easy clean-up, make sure you complete your projects on a glass table. If you spill epoxy on glass, you can scrape it off with a razor blade.

They sell a silicone mold release/conditioner product, but we don’t think it was needed after making coasters with and without it.

Always use resin with adult supervision.

Notes

If your epoxy mixture is not exactly 1:1 your coasters will not harden completely.

Wear masks and gloves to keep from inhaling fumes and keep resin off your hands.

If you spill resin you can allow it to dry before using a razor blade to scrape it from surfaces.

I recommend using resin over glass or marble surfaces for easy cleanup.
