Car Care Tips For Spring

After a long winter of working hard on your behalf, it is time to thank your car with some maintenance. Most vehicles take quite a beating during the coldest months of the year. Whether or not you have to drive in snow, the cooler temperatures can do a number on your car. As the weather warms up, you may be ready to hit the road for a road trip, so make sure to follow these Raleigh Spring Car Care tips to ensure that you are ready to go.

  1. Check the Fluids

Your engine needs several different types of fluids to run correctly, and if you haven’t taken the time during the winter to top everything off, now is the time to do so. The most important fluids to check include the following:

  • Power steering fluid
  • Oil
  • Windshield washer solvent
  • Coolant
  • Brake fluid
  • Transmission fluid
  1. Check the Battery

Your battery is needed to give your engine the spark it needs to start. Cold weather can make your battery work harder, so you may need to replace it this spring as part of your Raleigh auto care.

  1. Check the Brakes

It is a good idea to have your brakes check annually, just to make sure that they are functioning properly. There are a few simple changes you can make, such as replacing the brake pads. That easy fix can make a big difference on brake safety.

  1. Check the Tires

Tire pressure can be significantly reduced when the temperatures drop, so make sure that your tire pressure levels are where they should be for your specific vehicle requirements. The proper air pressure is listed on the inside of your car door.

  1. Schedule a Tune Up

While you can perform many of the basic tasks needed to keep your car running smoothly, it is a good idea to schedule a professional tune up just to make sure that everything is functioning correctly.
