I had the pleasure of attending the Loretta Lynn VIP event at the Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort and Spa last month, and I had a great time. Not only was I able to reconnect with some of my favorite bloggers, but I also go to enjoy a little R&R at the resort (which would have been a lot nicer had I not gotten sick). I got a migraine (most likely from traveling) and ended up missing out on the resort tour and the trip to Ripley’s Aquarium, so that had me kind of bummed, but everything else was awesome!

I have vacationed in Nashville before, but never in Gatlinburg, so I was excited to get to visit a different area, and it was a completely different experience. Nashville is a big city, and Gatlinburg feels more like your hometown, only with big city attractions. The people were super friendly everywhere we went, and it reminded me a lot of Branson, Missouri, ok it’s exactly like Branson! From the wax museum, to a variety of different music halls, and even Mel’s Diner, this might as well be called Branson Tennessee!

The Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort & Spa is a wonderful family friendly resort, and I am already planning a trip with my entire family this summer. The resort offers beautiful balcony views of the mountains, spacious condos for the family (think full kitchen, dining room, and a master bedroom with a spectacular whirlpool tub. I would recommend these resorts for families and couples looking for a romantic getaway.

I mean look at this thing! Seriously, what else do you need when you have such a beautiful view and a giant tub (yes, I love giant tubs, what can I say).

I think the thing that sets this resort apart is the customer service. Westage is a highly staffed resort, which means they have people staffed all over the resort to provide you with directions, shuttles, and anything else you could possibly need during your stay.

The Westgate Resort and Spa in Gatlinburg is the place for kids! When I am traveling with my family (I have four kids) a hotel room just doesn’t cut it. We can make it work, but it doesn’t feel like a vacation. It helps to have a full kitchen so we don’t have to eat out for every meal, and having a washer and dryer, well that is a must! Aside from the actual living space, we also look for a place where we can have as much fun on the property as we have when we go into the city, and Westgate has the perfect solution. They have on-site playgrounds, pools, an arcade and wait for it… an indoor waterpark! Yes, seriously… I wouldn’t kid about something like that! To be honest, I’m not sure my kids would even want to leave, which would make for a pretty affordable vacation. I also love the way the water park is set up because it’s big enough to enjoy all day, but not so big that I would have to constantly chase down the kids (not fun for me).

If you don’t plan on venturing far from the resort there is plenty to eat on the property. They have the Westgate Smokehouse Grill (my lunch was amazing), the Mason Jar Lounge (think sports bar, with moonshine), an Ice Cream Shop, and of course room service. Everything I ate was delicious and the prices are really affordable. Oh, and don’t worry, if you enjoy a little more food than you should, they also have a great gym where you can work it all off. 😉

As I mentioned earlier, I attended the Loretta Lynn VIP event, which means that I got more than just a stay at the resort, I also got an invite the the VIP dinner event, and tickets to the Loretta Lynn concert in Gatlinburg (which was phenomenal). After all these years that woman can still sing and out on quite a show! Westgate Events is just another little perk that makes the Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort a little different than the rest. All you have to do is check out the site, and choose an event and they take care of everything else. They have events for Luke Byran, Tim McGraaw, football, racing, and so much more. You end up saving a lot of money because you get a package that includes the event as well as the resort accomidations so if you plan to visit, I would check out the Westgate Events page before booking. Oh, and if you are military you can get a 10% discount so make sure you ask about that as well!

I had such a great time, and cannot wait to visit again! If you are planning to visit Gatlinburg, don’t forget to check out the Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort and Spa, you’ll be glad you did!

Oh, and if you want a little taste of the show, take a look at the video I shot of Loretta Lynn’s cousin Tara Thompson:
