Filet Mignon With Dijon Sauce Recipe

A few years ago I tested out this Filet Mignon With Dijon Sauce Recipe on my kids. They were 9,8,3, and 2 at the time. My goal was to get them to think outside the drive-thru box, and thankfully my plan was a success.

Yesterday was my son Jordan’s 11th birthday. We usually let the kids decide where they want to eat, and he chose to eat at home, but only if I made filet mignon with dijon sauce and baked potatoes! So yesterday while they were in school, I high-tailed it to Walmart to pick up the filet mignon and ingredients I needed for the recipe along with Jordan’s birthday cake. When I got to the check-out lane I explained to the cashier that my purchases were for my eleven year old’s birthday dinner to which she replied “Well, it looks like he has great taste, but what’s up with the Mario birthday cake?”. So I said (in an odd mix of various accents) Touché , next year with better planning I shall prepare Crème brûlée or perhaps a Tiramisu for our fine young lad. 😉

Honestly, I would be happy to plan a dinner like that for him and I hate that I didn’t think of making a more decadent dessert, but alas..there’s always next year. Jordan is definitely my “foodie”. He loves to cook and the child asked for a received a waffle maker for Christmas, so who knows where his love of fine dining may take him. Maybe he’ll be a chef, a food critic, a blogger… regardless of what he decides to do, I will support him.

Jordan, if you’re reading this, (and you should be since I sent texted you this link) I love you. I am so proud of the man you are becoming. You are caring, responsible, sensitive to other’s feelings and ideas, and you are one of the smartest kids I know (okay, the smartest kid I know, but don’t you dare tell your brother or sisters I said that). Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll go far, I’m sure of it.

So now that I have the back story out of the way and went all “mommy blogger” on you, I guess I can share this awesome recipe with you now.
