A few days ago, I shared my Hawaiian holiday wish with you. Today I want to talk a little about someone in my life who is making wishes come true by serving our community and our country.
My husband joined the military when he was 19 years old. He wanted to live his life serving our country, and he has been working as a member of the US Coast Guard for the last 12 years. As a member of the Coast Guard, he has assisted in Search and Rescue missions, ensured the safety of boaters and swimmers, and helped train hundreds of other Coast Guard members to do the same.
While we were stationed in Massachusetts, my husband served as a Youth Leader at our local church and built relationships with teenagers, making a positive impact on their lives. He also went on mission trips and helped build churches. He even helped grant a wish for a child who wanted to fly in a Coast Guard helicopter!
Now that we are back in NC, he is a member of the Coast Guard Enlisted Association, where he volunteers his time helping raise money for numerous charities and leading charitable events like Angel Tree, Thanksgiving Baskets, and a Cook-Off.
I married an amazing man who knows how to serve and give back to his community. I know that in his lifetime, he has made many wishes come true. He is a man who will call me from the car and ask me to pull out cash to give to guys playing the drums on the sidewalk. I love my husband and appreciate his giving heart.
If you have the pleasure of knowing someone like my husband, I hope you will take a moment today to share their story. When you share their #WishesDelivered story on the #WishesDelivered Site, UPS makes a donation to one of their charity partners (Boys & Girls Club of America, World Food Programme, Toys for Tots Literacy Program, The Salvation Army, The UN Refugee Agency), up to a total of $150K.
