Today I was thinking about a post one of my friends wrote about the beginning of their adoption journey. One of the things Melinda says is that God brought to mind a verse of scripture, that He basically ended up asking her to obey Him on. It seems like such a small thing... to pick up trash out of obedience to God, but it changed her life! God used that small act of obedience to confirm that He would indeed provide everything her family needed to adopt.

TRASH & SPARE CHANGE

This is how our God works. He works in our hearts in small tangible ways, because that is what we can comprehend. He makes His will known to us through small choices, to follow Him in obedience. He turns ashes into beauty and trash into treasure.

What would have happened if she had not listened to God, and instead walked by the bag for someone else to pick up? Who knows what kind of difference it would have made, not to obey. Maybe two children would still be orphans.

Today I thank God for asking me to obey Him in small things, but still things I can only obey because Christ died so I could hear that small voice, whispering truth to my heart.

Thank you Lord for working in me. Thank you for the Holy Spirit to lead and direct my life. Thank you for the grace and mercy that comes with the forgiveness, when I don't obey your will. Thank you for loving me enough to lead me, even if in the moment I feel like I'm only taking baby steps.

You never know what that one small choice may change. I'm learning to trust that when God tells me to do something it's for a very important reason, even if I can't see it.

I encourage you to read Melinda's blog because it is pretty amazing!
