So yeah, my life has been a little crazy lately. I just discovered that I can order dog food online via #PetcoDelivers and have started "trying" to take control of my life again! Having four kids, a husband, and a dog... it adds up! I'm sure you can relate to the non-stop stress of life. It seems like for every one thing I get accomplished I have another ten things added to my TO DO list.
I don't know what it was really, but something just snapped inside of me two weeks ago, and I internally shouted ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
When we arrived home from our last camping trip, I threw open the door and just started cleaning like a mad woman. I was starting to wonder if I could be the next woman to appear on that show about being pregnant and not knowing it because I hadn't cleaned like that since I was nesting!
I told my husband that day that I could not keep living like this. I am always stressed, I feel guilty because I can't do it all, and I need a break. Not a break from life, but a break from the stress, which means I need help.
Help from my husband, help from the kids and help from outside sources. No, I haven't hired a maid (yet), but I am looking for ways to streamline my life. You know, spend more time on the things that matter, and less on the robotic errands we are forced to do (like wait in lines).
Over the past two weeks, I have made a few changes.
Order Dog Food Online:
Let's talk about the dog. I love her, I really do, but this girl is high maintenance. She has terrible allergies, which lead to other issues that require meds and appointments. We have been trying to pinpoint some of the things she may be allergic to which means we are trying new dog foods. Not only does she have allergies, but she has issues with her teeth. Sometimes she won't eat; we have to make sure she has puppy food, and aside from her teeth, she's just picky! She reminds me of my children when they were toddlers.
I can drop food in her bowl and know within minutes whether she will eat it or not. This can get pretty stressful.
This is how I know she likes it! She will take it out of the bowl and eat it off of the floor. Why? No clue... she's weird!
Thankfully, I don't have to worry about running to and from the pet store anymore because now I can order dog food online and have her food shipped with repeat delivery! This process is SO easy if you haven't tried it you need to! All you have to do is choose your products, select Petco Repeat Delivery and then set your schedule!
I assumed I would have to go in each month and change it up a bit to try different foods until we found one she would eat, that wouldn't make her scratch her fur off, and I think I've figured that out as well! The very first dog food I ordered (though not the first we've tried) seems to be perfect for her. She will eat it (that's the first step) and when she does she doesn't start scratching herself! Could we have possibly found food that she isn't allergic to? I think so. I don't want to get my hopes up, but so far so good! Hopefully, I can just keep this dog food on order and have it delivered straight to the door every month.
Oh, and before I forget! When you sign up for repeat delivery, you will receive 20% off certain items for your pet and snag a $30 eGift card with any purchase over $39! The value of the Promotional eGift Card is applied to the total purchase, including shipping and tax.
Aside from being able to have Sophie's food dropped off, I have also learned the secret power of doing the laundry every day! I'm not even kidding! I now do one load of laundry first thing in the morning, and the laundry is done by lunch time. I'm talking washed, dried, folded, and put away people! Now that is an accomplishment.
I just have the kids bring down clothes every morning before they catch the bus and BOOM! No more piles of laundry laying around the house.
I've started allowing my children to do a lot more around here. We have a new rule each day that basically says DO THIS: Homework, Chores, Play Time.
Everything I've been doing to regain control in my life has been so simple, and things I should have been doing long ago. I feel so much better, my house is cleaner, my dog is happy, and my husband is enjoying my less stressed out self a lot more these days!
