~ How To Switch From An iPhone to A Lumia was written as a part of the sponsored #LumiaSwitch campaign. I received this phone for the purposes of this campaign, and all opinions and experiences are my own.
If you’re considering buying a Windows phone like the Lumia 830, you’ve come to the right place. Transferring your information from one phone to another can seems like a complicated task, but if you’re switching from an iPhone to a Lumia (or any phone to a Lumia) as usual, Windows has you covered. Windows strives to make their software as easy as possible for anyone to use, and I have to give them credit because they do it well. Today we are going to look at how to switch from an iPhone to a Lumia.
To transfer your information from your iPhone to your new Lumia follow the steps below:
1) Install the OneDrive App onto your iPhone. You can easily find this in the App Store on your phone by searching OneDrive. Sign in using your Microsoft account. If you don’t have a Microsoft account, you can create one here. This allows you to share all of your files between phones.
2) Transfer your contacts from your iPhone to your Lumia phone.
To transfer your contacts, make sure both of your phones have Bluetooth switched on. Allow your phones to find each other and pair them. Once you have paired the phones you will want to transfer your contacts by going into the Transfer My Data App. If you don’t see the app on your home-screen, simply swipe the screen and scroll down to the T section.
After selecting this app you should see this:
After selecting continue your information will begin to transfer from your iPhone to your Lumia (this usually doesn’t take long, but it depends on how much information you are transferring. Don’t move forward until you see this screen:
3) Now it’s time to sync your media files. This step will transfer your photos, videos, music, ringtones, and podcasts.
The first thing you need to do is download the Windows Phone app for your desktop. Once you’ve done that you will name your phone and select Sync music, videos, and more from iTunes.
Then you will select each tab and sync any information you want added to your new phone. If you aren’t getting rid of your old phone, don’t worry, all of your information will still be there. If you are a Mac user, you will need to download the Windows Phone App for Mac found here.
Once you’ve completed these steps you are ready to rock and roll on your new Lumia phone, so have fun and do some exploring!
