We are here every year: So many goodies, so little willpower. It's that one time of the year that you really and truly feel like you CAN indulge! So, from just before Thanksgiving until New Year, we stuff ourselves with all of the deliciousness we try to avoid the rest of the year and by New Year's Eve, we only want to wear sweat pants and a huge ugly Christmas sweater while downing our last bits of cookies, egg nog and sausage balls because we can't face facing anyone donning anything snug that shows our badges of gluttony.
Not this year, my friends! I'm here to tell you how to avoid that holiday gain this year and face the New Year feeling like you really can tackle the year ahead!
1. Start out your day with a smoothie and a cup of tea. No, you can't add frozen yogurt to it! My favorite smoothie: 1 cup of almond milk, 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder (Shakeology), 1 teaspoon of peanut butter, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and ice. Blend and sip and you will have a fantastic breakfast that can also serve as a snack to fight the sweet tooth.
2. Plan a cheat meal! Have a Christmas party or cookie exchange? Put it on your calendar and plan to cheat for that party. That means you have to eat well all of the rest of the time, but you give yourself a break for parties and times with family and friends to enjoy what you love during the holiday! You won't feel guilty because you're staying on track the rest of the time!
3. Start a new workout program now, rather than waiting until the New Year. We all know that what happens at the gyms in January; they are flooded and then 2 weeks later, everyone has lost their resolve and resorted to pushing the snooze button. Start a program now and you'll be more likely to keep it going.
3. Find someone to do all of this with you! You can workout together and offer each other support when you are dying to make a batch of cookies all for yourself after you've just spent 2 hours in Pinterest!
You can do this!!!! Commit yourself to a holiday season that's not filled with regret and guilt!
