This year started off with a bang! On January 15th, we welcomed a new little princess into the family. Brooklyn will never truly know how much she was wanted. Her mom and dad waited so many years to welcome her into their home, and 2015 was the year she decided to make her entrance into the world! While her mom and dad were praying for her, I was also praying for her. I even asked you to pray for her parents with me. Thank you to everyone who waited and prayed with us.
Watching this tiny baby girl grow right before our eyes is such a blessing, and I have enjoyed every moment I get with this kid. I can’t believe she will celebrate her first Christmas this year, and then her first birthday. Time goes by so fast, especially that first year. While I love baby clothes, diapers, and baby gear my favorite things to buy for my nieces and nephews will always be books and toys! It is so much fun to watch their little faces light up when they open a toy from you, especially the first few years because it’s always like a new experience each time they open a gift.
While I was shopping a Big Lots a few weeks ago, I was browsing toys for my daughter Anna’s birthday when I found a treasure trove of gifts I couldn’t pass up for Brooklyn. Since I couldn’t justify buying everything I saw for her for Christmas, I decided to make half of my purchase for her birthday! We set strict budgets for all the kids to keep it fair, it just so happens that her birthday and Christmas are very close together! 😉
Take a look at the ridiculously cute toys we bought her.
Gifts For Baby Girls:
I always shop a little older for all of the kids in my family. I found that if you shop a little older you don’t have to worry about other people buying the same gifts you bought! For Christmas, I am going to give her all of the 1+ toys and for her birthday she will get the 1 1/2+ toys! You don’t want to get carried away though! Toys for three-year-olds would not be safe for babies!
I thought it fitting to buys her Disney Princess toys because she’s been called “Princess” since she was in the womb!
See what I mean?! I could share these pictures all day! Look at the hair on that girl! I had never seen this much hair on a baby before. In case you’re wondering, yes, she lost it!
I adore Little People toys, and I hope she loves them as much as I did when I was a kid. I knew when I saw this Ferris wheel that she had to have it because I played with one like this for years! I had never been to a fair before so I was fascinated with Ferris wheels as a child.
I will give her the Disney Princess Cottage for her birthday, and I hope she gets every piece of this set. My daughters had some of it, but they grew out of it before they collected the entire set.
I can’t believe I found all of this at Big Lots. I have always shopped their toys section, but I guess it’s been a while since I paid any attention to the baby/toddler toys. I love Big Lots because they have the brands we know, and love, which means the quality will be exactly what we are expecting. The most fabulous part of any Big Lots shopping trip is the value! I would have never been able to purchase all of this while staying within our gift budget for Christmas and Birthdays!
Have you shopped Big Lots for toys lately? If not you’re missing out. Just look at all they have on the shelves right now:
Oh and I know you must be dying to know what my little cutie looks like now, here she is at eight months.
Could she be any cuter?
